About Radiesse

To add lost volume and initiate the body’s production of collagen, Houston, TX double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Anthony E. Brissett, regularly administers Radiesse. This FDA-approved injectable wrinkle filler consists of calcium hydroxyapatite, a mineral naturally found in the bones and face. Radiesse works by adding instantaneous volume and initiating collagen which provides support for smoother, tighter skin. Dr. Brissett uses the filler to treat moderate to severe lines, wrinkles, and folds near the mouth and between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds). Radiesse is also used to replace age-related volume loss in the cheeks.

What to Expect following Radiesse Injections

Before the treatment, the doctor will determine the appropriate dosage and area(s) to be treated for an individual patient. Radiesse will be injected using a fine needle. Since it’s already mixed with Lidocaine (a numbing agent), additional numbing usually isn’t needed, but can be provided depending on the patient’s preference. A treatment takes around 30 minutes to complete. There’s no downtime associated with Radiesse and patients can immediately return to their normal activities.

what will my radiesse results look like?

After a Radiesse treatment, patients commonly experience a sensation of numbness, redness, mild bruising, or itching. These side effects should subside within a day or two. Immediately after an injection, patients will notice a marked difference with smoother, firmer skin with diminished lines, wrinkles, and folds. Results can last 1 year or more.

Radiesse FAQs

How much does Radiesse cost?
The cost of Radiesse treatments can vary depending on how many syringes are used to achieve your desired look. During your initial consultation, Dr. Brissett will ask about your expected results and develop your custom treatment plan. We can provide a cost estimate at this time.

How does Radiesse compare to other fillers?
There are many different fillers on the market, and each one has its own formula and uses. Common filler ingredients include HA (hyaluronic acid), calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa), poly-L-lactic acid, and PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate). Radiesse is made with calcium-based microspheres, which are similar to hyaluronic acid injectable fillers since both stimulate the natural production of collagen.

Are Radiesse injections painful?
You may feel a minor amount of pressure or a slight pinch during your injections. Most patients have no issues with pain thanks to Radiesse's lidocaine formula, but we can provide numbing cream or distractors to further reduce any potential discomfort. However, numbing cream can be provided to relieve any concerns you may have.

What are the side effects of Radiesse?
When performed by a skilled injector, Radiesse rarely produces any serious side effects. If you are taking any medications or have any known allergies, you should mention these to Dr. Brissett during your consultation. Immediately following your treatment, you may experience mild redness, bruising, itching, or numbness. This is temporary and will generally disappear within a few days.

What other procedures can I combine with Radiesse?
Radiesse injections make a great addition to any nonsurgical aesthetic treatment plan. Many of our patients choose to combine Radiesse with wrinkle relaxer injections (such as BOTOX) to enhance their results. Be sure to ask about which procedures we can recommend to help you attain your desired look.
