About Chemical Peels
A great way to rejuvenate the appearance of the skin is with a quality chemical peel. Offered by Medical Aesthetician, Annie Christenson at Dr. Anthony Brissett's Center for Facial Plastic Surgery in Houston, chemical peels can be adjusted to address a variety of skin conditions. Peels run from light to deep to address fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven texture, acne scars, acne, and more. Chemical peels work by removing the top layers of skin to reveal brighter, fresher, more glowing skin. After the peel, new skin will regenerate creating collagen and elastin to firm and renew the skin Chemical peels can greatly improve the look of skin after just a single treatment, but multiple treatments are usually needed.
Chemical Peel Reviews
"Facelift and Chemical Peel - Dr. Anthony Brissett is the only doctor I would have ever trusted to do my facelift. I was introduced to Dr. Brissett by my sister who was a facelift patient of his approximately 10 years ago. I have seen Dr. Brissett for Botox and occasional fillers for the past 4 years. We got to know each other over this time period. He knew that with me "less is more" and I knew, without question, that he would go the extra mile to make sure I never got "more", even when he gently suggested that a little more would be ok. Dr. Brissett's discriminating eye, his open and eager desire to hear my thoughts regarding my appearance, his honest assessment of what he felt I needed and his unquestionable skill in restoring a youthful face and never distorting it contributed to my building a solid trust him. When I finally decided to have my facelift, I knew I was in the best possible hands. Dr. Brissett was assuring and attentive after my surgery, always accessible to answer questions regarding aftercare and very accommodating with my follow up appointments. I would highly recommend him to anyone desiring cosmetic consultation and/or procedures. I am one of 5 sisters and we all have absolute trust in Dr. Brissett. While Dr. Brissett's reputation was the reason I initially scheduled an appointment, I quickly came to realize that his wonderful staff, Regina and Andrea and his aesthetician, Annie, are major factors that contribute to my feeling of complete confidence that I am in good hands."- D. / RealSelf / Jan 24, 2014

Chemical Peel Options
The superficial/light chemical peels are the mildest form of peels and work by removing the outermost layer of skin. Depending on desired effect, a specific type of peel or peels will be used on the skin. Afterwards, the skin will be slightly red, but there will be little to no downtime. The patient’s skin may slough slightly for 3 – 5 days and a series of treatments are usually required.
Medium Depth Peels
Medium depth peels penetrate deeper into the skin to treat more troublesome skin problems. These peels are good for moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, as well as moderate scars, acne, discoloration, and other skin problems. Depending on the skin concern, a peel or several peels are layered on the skin by a medical professional in a safe, controlled manner. After the peel, the skin may feel tingly and be red. Peeling or sloughing may occur for 3 - 7 days, however the effectiveness of the peel is not related to how much the skin peels. The recovery period is typically about 5-7 days for these peels and the results will be more dramatic than a light peel.
Deep peels produce the most dramatic results and are reserved for more serious skin conditions. Generally, a combination of peel solutions are used for the optimal result. The skin is watched carefully during this peel allowing the aesthetician to decide the safest method and the best ingredients to use. The “Minus 10 Medical Peel” is an amazing deep peel that provides yearly rejuvenation.
What to Expect
Before any chemical peel, the skin will be thoroughly assessed to determine the exact skin concerns and the most appropriate peel. The skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepped prior to the peel. The peel can have many days of peeling starting on about the 3rd day and lasting up to about 14 days. Afterwards, the patient will need to follow a post treatment routine from the aesthetician to protect the skin and enhance the effects of the peel. If additional treatments are needed, the medical professional will schedule as needed for maximum results.
