Ear Reconstruction Reviews
Excellent Doctor. Thank you
I was referred to Dr. Brissett by my primary care doctor for treatment of a keloid scar on my ear cartilage that formed after removing a piercing. I have been going for several months now for treatment and am very pleased with the result-the keloid has all but disappeared. Dr. Brissett is very friendly and personable. He made me feel at ease with the treatment plan and patiently answered all of my questions each visit without making me feel rushed. Unlike many specialists, I have never had to wait long to be seen. The schedulers, nurses, and medical assistants are all very kind and professional as well.
my son always has a great experience, everyone is great, miss Regina is excellent with my son and Dr. Anthony Brissett is an excellent doctor
I was referred to Dr. Brissett for reconstructive surgery on my nose that will be done in Sept. I was completely satisfied with him and feel trusting that he will do a very good job on the surgery in Sept. He put me at ease and answered all my questions concerning the procedure.
Dr. Brissett has always been attentive. Best bedside manner I have ever encountered. Really connected with my child to put worries aside. He doesn't rush the appointment; he listens to all questions/concerns and discusses them with you.

What is the difference between ear reconstruction and otoplasty?
Ear reconstruction and otoplasty are two distinct procedures aimed at addressing different concerns related to the ears. Ear reconstruction involves rebuilding or restoring the structure of a malformed or damaged ear. On the other hand, otoplasty, also known as ear pinning, focuses on correcting prominent ears by reshaping or repositioning the ear cartilage. At Brissett Plastic Surgery, our skilled surgeon, Dr. Anthony E. Brissett, can determine the most appropriate treatment approach for your unique ear condition.
How do you sleep after ear reconstruction?
After ear reconstruction surgery at Brissett Plastic Surgery, patients are often advised to avoid sleeping on the side that underwent surgery to prevent pressure on the newly reconstructed ear. Instead, resting on the opposite side or on the back is recommended to promote comfortable healing and minimize any potential complications. Dr. Anthony E. Brissett will guide you through the recovery process, ensuring you have the necessary support and knowledge to ensure a successful outcome during your healing journey.
How Does Ear Reconstruction Work?
There are several different surgical ways to repair the ears. With microtia repair, cartilage can be taken from the ribs to repair the ears. It will be performed in several stages to perform the grafting technique for both ears. An ear implant can also be used instead of the rib graft. A flap will be harvested from above the ear to cover the implant.
Otoplasty surgery is used for prominent ears where the ears are pinned back and reshaped by manipulating the cartilage and skin to form a more cosmetically normal-looking ear. With ear defects caused by trauma or cancer surgery, flaps and skin grafts are some of the techniques used.
Since the cause for ear defects and a patient’s condition vary widely, surgery can be relatively simple or more complicated, requiring additional surgical time and advanced techniques.
How Long Is Recovery after Ear Reconstruction?
Soft dressings will be applied to the ears and will remain in place for a few days following surgery. Patients can expect to experience some pain and discomfort, which can be lessened with pain medication. Patients will have to switch their sleeping patterns if they sleep on their side since they will have not be able to put pressure on the ears. Headbands are often used for about 2 weeks after surgery to hold the ears in position. There should be minimal scarring and scars shouldn’t be visible. There will be multiple follow-up appointments and many patients will see dramatic improvements in the months after surgery.
