What Is A Neck Lift?
A saggy neck can be the result of several different factors, but it doesn’t have to be accepted once a patient decides to have neck lift surgery. This highly transformative surgery can take a patient from a “turkey neck” to the sleek and slimmer profile he or she desires. Houston, TX, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Anthony E. Brissett, performs this surgery for patients with extraneous skin in the neck area. In the process, Dr. Brissett can address fine lines and wrinkles in this region, as well. A neck lift, on its own, can produce powerful results, but these results can be fully maximized with neck liposuction to remove fat pockets or a facelift surgery.
What Are the Benefits of A Neck Lift?
A neck lift offers patients a number of benefits, both aesthetic and functional. The primary benefit is the ability to improve sagging neck skin. Dr. Brissett can help patients look years younger and feel much more confident about their appearance. In addition, a neck lift may also:
- Address excess fat pockets and skin in the neck area
- Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines
- Improve the overall contours of the neck
- Enhance your facial profile
Who Is A Candidate for A Neck Lift?
The best candidates for a neck lift are those looking to address aesthetic concerns in the neck area, such as sagging neck skin, wrinkles, or an undefined profile, to achieve a more youthful and contoured appearance. A neck lift might be right for you if you:
- Have loose skin in the area caused by weight loss, aging, or genetics
- Have fine lines and wrinkles in the neck area
- Are any age from 20 – 70+
- Desire a sleeker and slimmer profile
- Desire a long-term solution
- Desire a natural look
Neck Lift Reviews
I am a patient of Dr. Brissett. I had a lower face lift and neck lift on December 17, 2019. Dr. Brissett, Regina, Andrea, Roxanne, Rachel, Annie and his entire staff have been amazing. Dr. Brissett is truly an artist in his work. When I met with Dr. Brissett, he listened to me and understood what I was concerned about. All of my expectations have been met and I am so grateful to him for fixing my problem which I was so self conscious about. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Brissett as he has all of the finest qualities you will find in a person and in someone who will be working on your face. I will forever be grateful to him.

I am a longtime patient of Dr. Brissett (Botox and fillers) and his aesthetician, Annie (facials, micro needling, etc.). I always have received the highest level of quality services and results from both of them. The staff, especially Regina and Andrea, have been extremely kind and thoughtful. Always, the services and costs have been fully explained to me, and all of my questions have been fully answered. Since becoming a patient, I regularly receive compliments on my skin. Recently, after several consultations with Dr. Brissett, whom I trust implicitly and who gave me great advice, I had a face and neck lift. It has been less than 2 months since the surgery, and I could not be more thrilled with the results, which only will continue to improve. My profile, which used to make me cringe, now makes me smile. My husband asked me why my skin does not look "pulled," and I replied simply "because Dr. Brissett did it." There is no finer doctor.
Dr Brissett is a phenomenal listener and educator, as well as surgeon!
I was referred to Dr. Brissett after I had a less than stellar experience with a cosmetic surgeon post-Mohs nose procedure. I was not pleased with the first surgeon’s nose repair. Dr. Brissett accepted me as a patient and subsequently performed surgery to correct my nose making it easier for me to breathe through my right nostril plus making my nose more symmetrical. Fast forward through covid and I decided I wanted a necklift. Dr. Brissett performed the surgery, and I am very pleased with the results. He and his staff were very attentive to my concerns. He also made a minor adjustment to my right nostril making my nose even more symmetrical. The post-surgical care by Dr. Brissett and his staff has been excellent. His nurse, Regina, and Andrea, patient care coordinator, are very caring. All other team members are extremely pleasant to work with including his aesthetician, Annie. I highly recommend Dr. Brissett for facial plastic surgery. He is not only a surgeon but also an artist.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have visible scars?
A neck lift does require incisions, but Dr. Brissett places them in concealed areas that are not always noticeable to others. Our professionals make every effort to ensure incisions are small so any scars are minimal. Patients can also follow our post-operative instructions to learn how to clean and care for the incisions — so they heal evenly on the skin.
At what age should I get a neck lift?
Men and women in their 40s and 50s are most likely to benefit from a neck lift, but younger and older people can get them as well. Some neck lift patients have sagging neck skin due to weight loss. However, ideal candidates have good skin elasticity and are healthy enough to undergo plastic surgery.
Should I work on my neck or chin?
Some people have issues with the appearance of their neck, while others struggle with a weak chin. During your consultation at Brissett Plastic Surgery, we can examine the problem areas and make a custom treatment plan based on your goals. We may recommend a neck lift or another cosmetic procedure to get your best results.
What to Expect During Neck Lift Surgery
Neck lift surgery is an outpatient procedure and is performed at an accredited surgical facility. The patient will be under general anesthesia during the procedure. The plastic surgeon will start off by making an incision under the chin or in front of or behind the patient’s ears. When there are abundant fat pockets in the region, liposuction will be the first step of the surgery. The underlying neck muscles will then be pulled tight. Then, the skin will be trimmed and the remaining skin will be re-draped for a tighter, smoother appearance. Stitches, or sutures, are placed deep in the neck wall. The surgeon may also place a drain in the surgical site to control bleeding. The entire surgery typically lasts 2 hours.
How Long Is Recovery after a Neck Lift?
Following a neck lift surgery, a patient commonly experiences some amount of bruising and swelling in the neck area. It’s also common for patients to have a sensation of tightness and pulling, which is a result of the neck adjusting into the new position. Typically, patients are able to return to their normal routine, such as work, in around 7 – 10 days. After a few months, a patient should be able to see the full effects of the surgery with a tighter, smoother, more contoured neck. There will be very minimal scarring since the incisions were placed in discreet places.
