About Juvéderm

The Juvéderm family consists of Juvéderm XC, Juvéderm Ultra XC, and Juvéderm Voluma XC, which are all used in the battle against aging. Depending on a patient’s needs, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Anthony E. Brissett, can inject this filler wherever volume and hydration are needed. The hyaluronic acid dermal filler adds needed volume and hydration to thin lips, deflated cheeks, and the nasolabial folds (lines between the mouth and nose) to produce smoother, younger-looking skin. Consisting of hyaluronic acid (HA), this substance is found naturally in the human body and aids in providing structure to the face, giving it shape and volume. FDA-approved Juvéderm fights aging by spreading beyond the injection site to produce younger-looking skin for up to 1 year.

Beforehand, the doctor will determine the appropriate formula, injection site(s), and the correct dosage to begin this in-office treatment. Since Juvéderm already has a numbing agent (Lidocaine) included, additional numbing usually isn’t needed. The filler will be delivered through a fine needle to the lips, cheeks, and/or wrinkles and lines around the nose and mouth. Patients will feel a small prick and a tingling sensation from the injection. The treatment typically lasts 30 – 45 minutes.

how will my JUVÉDERM results appear?

After the injectable, there might be slight redness in the treated area. There could also be mild swelling, but it should go away rather quickly. Since there’s no downtime associated with Juvéderm, patients can return to their normal activities immediately. The face will be dramatically improved immediately after the treatment, and most patients can expect reliable results for up to 1 year.

Juvéderm FAQ

How much does JUVÉDERM cost?
The price of Juvéderm will be dependent on the amount of filler that is needed to achieve your cosmetic goals. Before your Juvéderm injections are administered, a personalized treatment plan will be developed to fit your aesthetic goals and budget. Once this is done, your injector can estimate costs and discuss payment options.

Are JUVÉDERM injections painful?
Although most patients don't find it needed, a numbing cream can be massaged into the treatment area prior to injection if you are worried about any discomfort. Following the treatment, you might feel mild to moderate bruising and swelling that should be gone in 5 – 7 days. You should contact our office if you experience any lasting pain or signs of an infection following your Juvéderm treatment.

What is the difference between a wrinkle filler and relaxer?
Injectable fillers and relaxers address wrinkles throughout the face but with different approaches. Injectable wrinkle relaxers, such as BOTOX, work to correct dynamic wrinkles created by frequent muscle movements. Juvéderm is an injectable dermal filler that improves static wrinkles by increasing volume. Juvéderm is great for improving mild to moderate wrinkles or reversing volume loss in your lips and cheeks.
